Position Summary:

A Manager in the Higher Education, Procurement Solutions practice will have significant responsibility for project management and generation of project results. They work closely with client directors, managers and staff throughout the university and/or academic medical center. Managers are expected to manage a significant amount of project work, develop internal resources, and support business development efforts.

Position Expectations:

Procurement Technology Managers have the following responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

• Providing in-depth system knowledge and guidance for the implementation of leading procurement and payables technologies utilized by Higher Education clients such as SciQuest, Unimarket, PeopleSoft eProcurement, Oracle iProcurement
• Assisting clients in evaluating, analyzing and selecting procurement and payables solutions including technologies for supplier information management, sourcing, contract management, imaging, settlement, and spend analysis
• Developing programs and offerings that help our clients continually improve the ability of their procurement organizations to achieve their goals through the use of applications, data, and support structures
• Identifying implementation related risks and applying mitigation strategies to minimize the impact to the project goals and timeline
• Analyzing current state procurement and payables business processes and developing future state processes based on industry best practices, client objectives, available technologies, and other influencing factors
• Providing expertise related to leading business practices in purchasing and payables
• Reviewing procurement and payables related policies in order to identify changes required to support future state business processes
• Building consensus with various stakeholder groups in support of new business processes and procedures
• Developing effective training and communication change management strategies to support the deployment of the applications to the broader campus
• Building strategies to assist central procurement and payables teams as well as the broader campus community adapt to the transformed business processes
• Creating marketing campaigns to generate understanding and enthusiasm for the new procure to pay solution and associated business processes
• Advising clients on regulatory and vendor changes, industry trends, and procurement and disbursement application requirements
• Assisting clients optimize existing procurement systems in order to resolve business problems or maximize utilization of the existing systems
• Managing various aspects of client engagement including coordination of multiple project workstreams, 3rd party software providers, and other key project stakeholders
• Establishing and managing relationships with technology providers in order to stay abreast of new technology function and features
• Assisting in the development of comprehensive procurement assessments and strategic procurement plans
• Leading resources across different organizational levels, functions, and businesses to help the organizations achieve procurement goals and objectives
• Supporting clients in the definition of procurement organization structures, roles, responsibilities and staffing levels within the organization
• Interacting daily with client executives and develop relationships at multiple levels
• Providing advisory services to client to achieve maximum benefits from initiative
• Managing client expectations related to scope and project success
• Non client facing requirements of the Procurement Technology Manager role include:
• Creating, reviewing, and editing work plans
• Managing activities of Huron resources on the project team
• Thinking both strategically and tactically to ensure recommendations are appropriate and realistic
• Generating and maintain status reports
• Managing project scope, budget, and financial forecast
• Working with internal Huron support teams to manage client billing, accounts receivable, and other financial tasks

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
• BA or BS from an accredited college or university
• Five or more years of procurement and payables related experience either in a consultative or operational role
• Two or more years of experience with packaged procurement and payables applications (e.g., Ariba, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SciQuest, Unimarket, ESM)

Preferred Qualifications
• Broad understanding of general business concepts and disciplines and the impact of technology for process improvements
• Experience in public sector or higher education procurement
• Experience working with large organizations and managing client/customer relationships
• Experience with strategic sourcing methodologies, practices, and supporting technologies
• Experience with spend analysis technologies (e.g., Zycus, Rosslyn Analytics, Spend Radar)
