Position Summary:

Procurement Technology Associates in the Higher Education, Procurement Solutions practice play an integral client-facing project or work-stream leadership role. The Associate can expect his/her contributions to have a meaningful impact upon client projects, deliverables, processes, and supporting technologies. This role blends a passion for Higher Education with a business savvy and pragmatic orientation to participate in the shaping, development and delivery of procurement technology solutions in order to position our clients to outpace industry trends. While activities will vary based on project size/scope and individual skill-sets and strengths, the Associate can expect to spend his/her time roughly as follows: 90% will be allocated to material client interaction through all project phases, project management, ownership of functional business process and application analysis including the creation of compelling client-ready presentations and; 10% will be spent developing internal professional and practice development and carrying out administrative tasks in support of internal Huron initiatives.

Position Expectations:

Procurement Technology Associates have the following responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

• Providing in-depth system knowledge and guidance for the implementation of leading procurement and payables technologies utilized by Higher Education clients such as SciQuest, Unimarket, PeopleSoft eProcurement, Workday, SAP Ariba, Coupa, ESM, Oracle Cloud and Oracle iProcurement
• Assisting clients in evaluating, analyzing and selecting procurement and payables solutions including technologies for supplier information management, sourcing, contract management, imaging, settlement, and spend analysis
• Assisting in the development of programs and offerings that help our clients continually improve the ability of their procurement organizations to achieve their goals through the use of applications, data, and support structures
• Identifying implementation related risks and applying mitigation strategies to minimize the impact to the project goals and timeline
• Analyzing current state procurement and payables business processes and developing future state processes based on industry best practices, client objectives, available technologies, and other influencing factors
• Reviewing procurement and payables related policies in order to identify changes required to support future state business processes
• Analyzing client expenditures and procurement channels to develop supplier enablement strategies in support of strategic procurement operations
• Participating in building consensus with various stakeholder groups in support of new business processes and procedures
• Developing effective training and communication change management strategies to support the deployment of the applications to the broader campus
• Building strategies to assist central procurement and payables teams as well as the broader campus community adapt to the transformed business processes
• Assisting clients optimize existing procurement systems in order to resolve business problems or maximize utilization of the existing systems
• Managing various aspects of client engagement including the overall project workplan and coordination with third party software providers and other project stakeholders
• Engaging with technology providers and industry trends in order to stay abreast of new technology function and features
• Assisting in the development of comprehensive procurement assessments and strategic procurement plans
• Leading resources across different organizational levels, functions, and businesses to help the organizations achieve procurement goals and objectives
• Supporting clients in the definition of procurement organization structures, roles, responsibilities and staffing levels within the organization
• Interacting daily with client executives and develop relationships at multiple levels
• Providing advisory services to client to achieve maximum benefits from initiative
• Managing client expectations related to scope and project success

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
• BA or BS from an accredited college or university Three or more years of procurement and payables related experience either in a consultative or substantial operational role
• Demonstrated experience with packaged procurement and payables applications (e.g., Ariba, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SciQuest, Workday, Unimarket, Coupa, ESM)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Broad understanding of general business concepts and disciplines and the impact of technology for process improvements
• Experience in public sector or higher education procurement
• Experience working with large organizations and managing client/customer relationships
• Experience with strategic sourcing methodologies, practices, and supporting technologies
• Experience with spend analysis technologies (e.g., Zycus, Rosslyn Analytics, Spend Radar)
